About
Dulahazra Safari Park, officially named Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park, is the first established safari park in Bangladesh, located in Chakaria Upazila under Cox's Bazar District. Sprawling over 900 hectares (around 2,224 acres) of a naturally rich, undulating evergreen forest landscape, it serves as a massive sanctuary for wildlife conservation, research, and eco-tourism. Developed initially as a deer breeding center in 1980, it was later upgraded to a full-scale safari park. Unlike traditional enclosed zoos, the park is designed with vast, fenced natural enclosures where animals roam freely in conditions simulating their natural habitats. The diverse ecosystem of the park is home to majestic Royal Bengal Tigers, African Lions, Asian Elephants, various species of Deer (including Barking Deer and Spotted Deer), Black Bears, Crocodiles, Wild Boars, and Hippopotamuses. The sanctuary is also a paradise for birdwatchers, sheltering numerous exotic and native bird species. For visitors, the park features specialized safari bus tours, high-altitude observation towers overlooking dense forest canopies, a well-curated wildlife museum, orchid houses, and serene nature walking trails under giant Garjan trees, making it an exceptionally educational and adventurous destination for families, researchers, and nature enthusiasts traveling toward the beach city.
