About

The Tin Bigha Corridor is a strip of land belonging to India that connects the Bangladeshi mainland to the Bangladeshi enclave of Dahagram-Angarpota, situated in Patgram Upazila under Lalmonirhat District in northern Bangladesh. Measuring roughly 178 meters in length and 85 meters in width (an area equal to three 'bighas' of land), this narrow passage holds immense historical, geopolitical, and emotional significance for the people of Bangladesh. Following the 1974 Indira-Mujib Land Boundary Agreement and subsequent diplomatic efforts, India leased this corridor to Bangladesh to allow unrestricted access to Dahagram-Angarpota, which was previously isolated inside Indian territory. Officially opened for 24-hour public transit in 2011, the corridor stands today as a unique symbol of sovereignty, cross-border history, and diplomatic triumph. Visitors traveling to the corridor can witness the distinct border arrangement where Indian Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel stand guard along the narrow strip. Beyond its geopolitical intrigue, tourists can cross into the thriving Dahagram union, visit the local riverbanks along the Teesta River, explore historical landmarks, and experience the warm hospitality of enclave residents whose lives were transformed by this historic corridor.
